You probably thought this is about learning how to chew right? Oh, that’s impossible😅.
Have you ever found yourself elbow-deep in a family-sized bag of fried chips, wondering where all the snacks went? Oh dear, you’ve just finished a whole bag of snacks while sitting.
This same you, dished three people’s food in just yours at 10:30pm.
You deserve a standing ovation…
Well, congratulations, I’m happy to tell you that you’ve mastered the art of “mindless munching.”
However, you know you can actually enjoy your food without needing an intervention from the food police, right? It’s all about something called “mindful eating.”
Reality Check…
These days, people are becoming aware of their body size and trying to do everything possible to lose excess weight.
Meanwhile, 80% of this is based on what we eat and how we eat it. Apart from eating healthy foods, how we eat those foods in terms of the portion, and time also goes a very long way.
Most times, we find ourselves using late night food as a comfort, this drives us far away from health goals.
Don’t just eat anyhow and anytime you want, understand your body signals by listening to your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
As you shift from mindless munching to mindful eating, you eat with intention and gratitude and every spoon will make more sense.
Permit me to remind you; weight loss has to do with calorie deficit, what you lose must be more than what you take in and that's when you can lose excess fat.
So, you have to train yourself to become used to mindful eating, this is when your weight goals will all work out.
So Far, So Good…
Using myself as a candid example, I was able to lose 5kg, even though it’s not evident yet on my physical appearance.
I know you will say; Just 5kg after all the hassles of sweating like a christmas chicken all in the name of exercise and not being able to eat whatever you like.
Then you ask me, is it even worth the stress?
At least, I’m not increasing in size. Moreover, that's why it's called a journey.
Apart from the target of shedding fat, some other positive things were added to my life.
It made skincare easier and my skin healthier, I feel less constipated, hunger pangs reduced (sometimes, I even forget to eat😂), increased energy and many more.
Let’s Wrap It Up Here
Weight loss journey can be both interesting and depressing depending on how you make it for yourself.
Make a list of what and when to eat, what to do and what not to do while on your weight loss journey.
Mind you, don’t be too strict on yourself, it will break you down and bore you out. It’s a lifestyle so take it steady.
As you embrace this lifestyle, you will find out that the unnecessary cravings are replaced with a sense of contentment and control.
Therefore, I welcome you to the journey from mindless munching to mindful eating, where each meal is a step towards a healthier and happier you.
Take away: Always remember, late night food, large portions and unhealthy foods are the weapon fashioned against your weight loss journey, so beware!
Stay Healthy😉.
