My Trip To 5 States In 1 Month And How It Affected My Skin
Yeah, of course there are flex days and stressful days.
But have you ever seen someone wake up one day and pray to have a stressful day? No!
Although, most times we are left with no choice, as these stressful days come unannounced.
Now, let’s have a glimpse of what one of my stressful days turned out like.
Breaking News…
I only went on a 4 week journey to 5 states and the effect bounced back on my skin.
That already summarizes the whole story, but there is a point I want to bring out, which is; our body responds to stress in different ways.
Ranging from irritability, anger outburst, frequent argument, restlessness, excessive sleep, change in eating habits, headache, fatigue, weight gain, increased heart rate and blood pressure and many more.
Unfortunately, my reaction to stress is through skin changes (I don't like this).
(you probably feel I’m overreacting, right?)
Well, well, well, don’t blame me for feeling bad, since we all want that glowing skin that speaks everywhere we go.
How about you? How does your body respond in stressful conditions? I look forward to your response.
Moving on…
Interestingly, while writing this email, I got a flashback that my skin has always reacted to stressful conditions, I didn't just understand it.
Bad Old Eczema Days…
In my early years, I frequently had eczema breakout specifically on my face, if it was acne, probably it would have been better, at least it’s common and generally acceptable.
However, there are these misconceptions about eczema. The likes of “it's extremely dirty people that get eczema, it's people who bleach, it's in the blood and other disgusting bluffs🤥.”
The struggle wasn't easy, at one point I always felt like wearing a face shield or isolating myself.
My body has always reacted to stress for years, I just couldn't get it and now with proper skincare and stress management strategies, I bid eternal bygone to eczema (sips cold juice🥂).
Did someone say Glory? Hallelujah🥳!
So What Happened To The New Pretty Me?
After the whole traveling stress, my skin got darker, with unexplained tiny rashes.
Then I realized that the frequent change in environment and most especially the “stress” must have caused it.
You must be wondering how stress affects the skin🤔?
This is it, when the skin cells are activated by stress, it leads to an increase in stress hormones “cortisol” production.
This causes inflammation and leads to skin irritation, rashes and dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Also, your glands produce more oil when under stress, which can cause acne outbreaks. I guess that explains it? Good.
As soon as I got settled, I was back to my glowing self in a matter of days. Yayy💃
Are you the type that frequently gets stressed from everyday hustle? Especially in “Nigeria” where everyone is just angry for only God knows what reason. (Laughs sarcastically).

Most importantly, whatever you are going through in life, know that it's a phase and you'll definitely overcome (that sounds spiritual right?) ride on the prophetess! (giggles).
