Not to worry that is why we are here, welcome to the fascinating world of female sexual anatomy.
In this journey, we'll simply look at the beautiful features that make up the female body.
Let’s get right into it, shall we?
What Makes Up Your Body?
Also known as the female reproductive system.
Your body contains different structures that play key roles in reproduction, sexual pleasure and overall health.
It is divided into 2 categories on the basis of their location.
Internal Genitalia:
These structures are located inside the body, they include:
Vagina: The vagina is a muscular tube-like structure that extends from the vulva to the cervix of the uterus. It serves as a passageway for menstrual flow, childbirth, and sexual intercourse.
Uterus: Cradle of creation. Also known as the womb, it’s a special part of a female body where a fertilized egg implants and grows into a fetus during pregnancy.
When a woman isn't pregnant the uterus is pear-shaped. But during pregnancy, it stretches to accommodate the growing baby. If a woman doesn't get pregnant, the lining of the uterus sheds each month and comes out as menstrual blood.
Cervix: The cervix is a small passage that connects the vagina to the uterus. It’s kind of like a door that keeps the uterus closed most of the time, but it can open up when a baby is ready to be born or to let blood out during menstruation.
It also produces mucus that changes consistency throughout the menstrual cycle to facilitate or prevent sperm from reaching the uterus.
Fallopian tubes: These are two narrow tubes that extend from the uterus to the ovaries. They transport eggs from the ovaries to the uterus during ovulation.
Ovaries: They are two small oval -shaped organs located on either side of the uterus. Every month , one of the ovaries releases an egg (ova) and they also make hormones such as estrogen and progesterone which helps regulate menstrual cycle.
External Genitalia:
These structures are located outside the body, they include:
Vulva: This is the area outside your vagina and it consists of these other parts:
Mons pubis: This is the area of skin and fat that’s right above your private part. It’s where pubic hair grows during puberty.
Labia majora: Also called the outer lips of the vulva, consisting of skin and adipose tissue. It covers and protects the other parts.
Labia minora: Also called “the inner lips.” It’s inside the labia majora and protects your vaginal opening and urethra.
Clitoris: Powerhouse of pleasure. A small, highly sensitive bump located at the top where the labia minora meet. The clitoris is rich in nerve endings and is a primary source of sexual pleasure.
Vestibule: The small space between the labia minora that contains the urethral opening (where pee comes out from) and vaginal opening. It’s usually protected by the labia minora.
